Erased From History: America's First Peoples Before 1619

In 1671, Dutch author Arnoldus Montanus published De Nieuwe en Onbekende Weereld ("The New and Unknown World"), a massive illustrated work describing the peoples, cities, and landscapes of the Americas. Later adapted into English by John Ogilby as America, Montanus’s book shaped how Europe imagined Indigenous peoples long before 1619.
